Description
For sample female adults who have ever taken estrogen and progestin AND who were ages 18-39, not pregnant, and had a menstrual period in the past three months that was less regular or lighter than a year ago OR who were age 40 and older, PROGEFLG reports whether there is an inconsistency between the age the respondent reported first taking progestin (PROGEAGE) and the time period reported. This variable was created because of apparent unlikely values reported for the age at which the respondent first started taking progestin. Researchers may wish to use caution with those values that are flagged.
PROGEFLG was first introduced in 1999. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function or drop-down menus.
