Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults, POPCNMTP reports the time unit (day, week, month, or year) that corresponds with the frequency with which the respondent reported eating popcorn. POPCNMTP should be used in conjunction with POPCNMNO, which reports the corresponding frequency stated by the respondent.
POPCNMTP is part of a series of variables related to food, food knowledge, and cancer.
Comparability
A similar variable, CHIPTP, is also available. Prior to 2000, this variable reports how many times the respondent ate salty snacks like chips, popcorn, or pretzels in a specified time period. The survey question from 2000 only asks about regular fat potato chips, tortilla chips, or corn chips.
