Comparability
The universe and the wording for the question changed between years, so researchers should use caution in making comparisons over time. In 1985 and 1990, this question was asked of female persons ages 18 to 44 who were pregnant or had given birth in the past five years and had ever been smokers. In 1991, the question was asked of female persons ages 18 to 49 who had given birth in the past five years who ever smoked 100 cigarettes. Please refer to the Universe Tab and Survey Text Tab for detailed information.
