Description
For sample adults 18+ who reported using a language other than English at home (LANGHOMEOT), LANGHOMESPA reports whether Spanish or another language (not specified) is being used at home. Interviewers collected information on which other language (if not Spanish) respondents used at home, but this information is not made publicly available in the NHIS.
Questions about language other than English at home were added as emerging content in the second quarter of the 2023 NHIS. Users should adjust sampling weights to account for partial availability. For guidance on adjusting weights, please see the sampling weights user note.
