Description
For sample persons age 12 to 21, HGBIKEYR reports how many times he or she wore a helmet while riding a bike in the past 12 months. Individuals who had not ridden a bike in the past 12 months could indicate that the question does not apply to them.
HGBIKEYR is part of the 1992 Youth Risk Behavior Supplement, sponsored by the Division of Adolescent and School Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the survey description, this supplement was part of the Youth Risk Surveillance System that was developed to monitor the major risk behaviors of American youth. Sample youth responded for themselves. They listened to taped interview questions and recorded their responses on paper, which were then returned to the interviewers in sealed envelopes.
