For persons who mentioned that they had manic episodes in the past 12 months and whose doctor or other health professional gave a diagnosis of manic episodes and used a more technical or specific name to refer to their manic episodes, CMIMANIWHAT reports the technical or specific name that the doctor or other health professional used to call manic episodes.
This variable is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of mental illnesses, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
